Dr. James Martin grew up in the forest regions of northwest Washington before moving with his family to the beach communities of Southern California. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and attended Heritage Christian High School in Anaheim, California. His love of the outdoors and service to his community resulted in the rank of Eagle Scout. He continued his college education after high school in Caldwell, Idaho where he attended Albertsons College of Idaho. His scientific studies included a 4 month field biology expedition which encompassed much of the coastal districts of Eastern Australia. He concluded his undergraduate studies with Bachelor of Science degrees in both biology and pre-physical therapy.

He and his wife, Cindi, moved to California to pursue his graduate studies at Southern California University of Health Sciences. He completed his Doctorate in Chiropractic on December 15, 1984. Alaska was his first choice to raise his sons and provide the community of Wasilla with the finest health care possible. In 1986 he designed Valley Chiropractic Clinic at 400 N. Main St. Wasilla and has been serving the Mat-Su Valley and the surrounding area for over 30 years. In 1995 Dr. Martin became a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician after completing post graduate studies at Southern California University of Health Sciences. He currently serves the American Chiropractic Association as the Alaska State Delegate since 2006.

His hobbies include community service, sports, fishing, hunting and exploring the great Alaska outdoors. He and his wife attend Settlers Bay Community Church.

Dr. David Martin grew up in the Mat-Su Valley, graduating at the top of his class from Matanuska Christian School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from UAA. Growing up in Alaska afforded Dr. Martin every opportunity to experience the outdoors at its best, and he has continued to pursue an active lifestyle through hunting, fishing, hiking, and playing various sports. His father, Dr. James Martin, provided the regular chiropractic care that enabled him to play sports all through high school and was especially beneficial after he suffered a low back disc herniation his first year of college. Dr. Martin decided to pursue chiropractic education because he wanted to help his community maintain an active, healthy lifestyle and he understood firsthand the healing effects of chiropractic.

Dr. Martin earned his Doctor of Chiropractic and his Masters in Exercise and Sports Science in Portland at the University of Western States. While studying in Portland, he was able to work alongside experienced diplomats in the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians and treat athletes ranging from the high school varsity player to those in a semi-professional football league. Dr. Martin served on the medical team for the 2011 Dew Tour as well as working at various university clinics including a community outreach clinic for low-income patients in downtown Portland. He is currently the Team Physician for Boom Town Derby Dames, a roller derby team in the Mat-Su Valley, and has been working with them since 2013.

He spent two summers volunteering at a children’s orphanage in Guatemala, and in 2008 Dr. Martin and his wife, Debbie, spent 5 weeks in Mexico helping at another orphanage. One of his future goals is to be able to continue his overseas trips and help better the lives of people who are truly in need. He began working with his father, Dr. James Martin at Valley Chiropractic Clinic in January 2012, and together they are busy providing a true, family centered practice for residents and visitors in the Mat-Su Valley. He and his wife are looking forward to raising their son Wyatt and daughter Kallie in the Mat-Su Valley and surrounding area and enjoying all Alaska has to offer. Dr. Martin is so blessed to be here and gives thanks to God every day for the opportunity to do what he loves with the people he loves.

There was a time in my life that I really relied on drugs . . . Dr. Anderson taught me that I was not doing anything better for my body by relying on drugs.
